From "Vienna to Broadway With Love" Album Notes...
Lynn Owen's glorious soprano has graced opera and concert stages all over the world including New York's Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, Zurich Opera, The Mexico National Opera, The Cologne Opera and Caracas, Venezuela's Teatro Theresa Carreno, singing leading roles in works by Puccini, Verdi, Strauss and Wagner.
An honors Graduate of the Juilliard School of Music and The Vienna Akademie of Music in Austria, Ms. Owen, in addition to an active concert and opera schedule, has for many years sung at the Algonquin Oak Room and elsewhere. She is currently a member of the Voice Faculty at The Manhattan School of Music, Barnard College/Columbia University.
As a teacher and a singer, Ms. Owen believes that "American musical theater as we know it, is a direct descendent of the great Viennese operetta tradition." It was her goal on this album to show how this came to be, tracing the evolution of the music from Johann Strauss and Franz Lehar to Jerome Kern and Richard Rodgers..
